Cruisin' Sherwood

Our fourth appearance to the annual event

SP 4449 went to Cruisin' Sherwood this year, an annual event where over 650 custom and classic cars are displayed, and have competitions. Cruisin' Sherwood is held in the historic district of Sherwood, which has a railroad track running right down the middle of the action, and having the 4449 there seemed to fill in that missing void at the show!

Thousands of people were able to view the locomotive up close and personal, and even look inside the cab where the Engineer and Fireman work. The crewmen were on hand to show how the locomotive works and answer questions.

Operation Lifesaver was on hand to help educate the public about railroad safety, and the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation had information about their latest efforts to acquire and build a new home for Portland's three steam locomotives.

SP 4449 was a great addition to this year's car show. The weather treated everybody well, and the show couldn't have gone any better!

After the show, we attended a private Father's Day picnic, as well as hosted additional Operation Lifesaver presentations.
