4449 volunteer Harvey Rosener,
who lives in the same town the Cruisin' Sherwood event was being held
in, arranged for the steam locomotive to be a part of the
show. Cruisin' Sherwood is
held in the historic district of Sherwood, which has a railroad track
running right down the middle of the action, and having the 4449 there
seemed to fill in that missing void at the show!
We showed up to the surprise of many, who didn't expect to see a fully
operating steam locomotive roll into the middle of the car show, and
welcomed it as the perfect backdrop for some of the classic cars. At
the end of the day, 4449 put on a show as it departed Sherwood for
Hillsboro.
After staying overnight in Hillsboro, we took a round trip between
Hillsboro and Tualatin, and then headed back to the Roundhouse via
Tualatin. It was a beautiful day out, the locomotive ran flawlessly,
and that wrapped up this weekend's outing.
On way back to Brooklyn from Hillsboro, via Beaverton, Tigard, Lake
Oswego, and Milwaukie.
Special thanks to Harvey Rosener and the crew of SP 4449, and
volunteers from the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation for making the
steam locomotive's visit to Sherwood possible. The crew of SP 4449
wishes to thank Cruisin' Sherwood
for having us at their show, we enjoyed seeing the cars and being a
part of the overall event, here's to more car and steam shows ahead!
